I've just been prescribed Mesalamine 4gm Kit (7 X 60ml) for ulcerative proctosigmoiditis. I've heard it can be a bit challenging to deal with, so I'm looking for some advice. Has anyone else used this enema? What were your experiences like? Any tips on how to make the process easier? Also, I'm a bit worried about the side effects, especially the more serious ones. How common are they, and what should I look out for? Any insights or support would be greatly appreciated!

I've been using Mesalamine for a while now. It's not the most pleasant thing to deal with, but it's really helped with my symptoms. My advice? Get a water based lubricant and remember to empty your bowels before use. Trust me, it makes a big difference. Also try to do it before bedtime

I'm really sorry you're going through this, but I'm glad you're seeking advice. I've used Mesalamine and it was a game-changer for my ulcerative proctosigmoiditis. Just remember to follow your doctor's instructions closely and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns!

I've heard that some people have a really hard time with the enema part, but others swear by it. Just hang in there and remember that it's worth it if it helps with your symptoms. Also, try to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Good luck!

I found that the best time to give myself the enema was right before bed. It gave me time to rest and empty my bowel in the morning. I also found that using a heating pad helped with the cramping.

I'm curious, what made your doctor prescribe this specific dosage and frequency? I was prescribed something different. Also, how long have you been dealing with ulcerative proctosigmoiditis?

I didn't have any major side effects, but I did experience some rectal irritation. Using a suppository afterwards helped a lot. Also, make sure to give yourself plenty of time for the enema to work.

I had a horrible reaction to Mesalamine. I developed a severe rash and had to stop using it. I'd be very careful and keep an eye out for any signs of an allergic reaction. If you notice anything strange, contact your doctor right away.

I had to stop using Mesalamine because I had a kidney injury. Make sure to keep an eye out for changes in your urine output. If you notice anything unusual, call your doctor right away. I also had some upper belly pain, but it went away after I stopped using it.

I found that using a small enema tip made the process a lot less uncomfortable. Also, make sure to lie on your left side after inserting the enema to help it move through your intestines. Good luck!
