Just started Micardis 40mg for high BP - any tips or side effects to look out for?
I've just been prescribed Micardis 40mg Tablets (Telmisartan) for my high blood pressure. I'm a bit nervous because I've never taken blood pressure meds before. I'm trying to eat healthier, but I’m not sure what to do about what I’m eating with this medication. My doctor said it relaxes blood vessels to make my blood pressure go down. Has anyone else been on this? I’ve heard some crazy side effects and want to be prepared. I’m worried about that and need some advice.

I've been on Micardis for a few months now, and it's been a game-changer for my blood pressure! I mostly get a stuffy nose from time to time and sinus irritation. Make sure you have regular blood tests as the problems can be silent. Good luck!
I switched to Micardis from another BP med because of the side effects, and it’s been great so far. No weird side effects.
Everyone’s different, so it might work for you, and it might not. You just have to take it and see what happens. It’s funny how many people have different reactions. My grandpa has never had any issues.
Some people have mentioned weird swelling, but I seemed to have been fine. I don’t know though, I do get off it every now and then and get a stuffy nose. Disclaimer, I don’t have hypertension so I asked my friend who does. I think that’s why its different for everyone.
I've had some weird kidney stuff and I didn't know it. But Micardis helped and now I have regular checkups. My doctor told me to take it with food. Blood tests are important!
I've heard mixed things about it. Some people love it, others say it makes their sinuses go crazy. I think it’s worth a try!
I know someone who got really bad allergies from it, so be careful. Make sure your doctor knows all the medications you’re on so they don’t interact. I know I’ve got a big one in my med list.
I'm on the same medication and have had no issues so far. Just make sure to stay hydrated and monitor your blood pressure regularly. My numbers have improved a lot, and I haven't had any serious side effects.
Be prepared for some dizziness, especially when you first start taking it. It's normal, but if it gets bad, talk to your doctor. My dad's on it and he got some blood in his urine and was worried, but his doctor told him its normal.
