I was recently prescribed Nifedipine 60mg ER (extended-release) for angina. My doctor said it should help lower my blood pressure and ease the chest pain. It's only been a few days, but I'm already experiencing some lightheadedness and flushing. I know these are listed as possible side effects, but I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences. Also, what should I do if these side effects worsen? I've heard the ER version is designed to release the medication over 24 hours, so I take it once a day, which is convenient. I just hope these side effects don't get worse. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I've been on Nifedipine for a few months now, and the flushing was pretty bad at first. It got better for me, but keep an eye on it. Also, be careful if you stand up quickly. You might experience dizziness from the changes to your blood pressure.

The lightheadedness should start to fade in a couple of weeks. If it gets worse or you start feeling really dizzy or faint, get checked out by a doctor. Serious side effects can be dangerous!

I started with the 30mg dose and worked my way up to the 60mg dose over a couple weeks. My doctor recommended this to avoid side effects and it worked for me. Good luck!

I've been on this for years. I still remember how the shell of the tablet would show up in my stool, mostly intact, occasionally partly dissolved. My doctor said it was normal, but it was still weird to see.
