I was just prescribed Praluent for high cholesterol and I'm a bit nervous about starting it. I have a family history of heart disease, so my doctor put me on this along with my statin. Has anyone here used Praluent and has had any side effects? I'm worried about the possible reactions at the injection site that I've seen listed. I'm also pretty scared about the idea of an allergic reaction. Are the side effects really as bad as they sound, or have people had mild experiences? Also, any tips on injecting the pen would be super useful. I've never done anything like this before. I know it sounds a bit dramatic, but any insights you guys have would be really helpful.

You'll be fine. Just make sure to follow the instructions carefully when you inject. Rotate your injection sites and keep an eye out for any signs of a reaction. It's all about being vigilant and knowing what to watch for.

Since you're combining it with a statin, just be extra careful about any muscle pain and let your doctor know if you notice anything weird. I didn't have any muscle problems and I think I was on the drug a long time, so hopefully it will be smooth sailing for you!

Be careful with this one. I've heard horror stories about the allergic reactions. It's not worth messing around with.

I've never had any side effects, but I know someone who had to stop taking it because of muscle spasms. It's one of those things where you just have to see how your body reacts. I'm sure it's different for everyone. I just used floss to get the medicine and it was fine.

I had a bad experience with this. I got hives and had to go to the ER.

Injection tips: Make sure the pen is at room temperature before injecting, and use a new needle each time. I keep mine in the fridge and just take it out before I use it.

I've heard mixed things about Praluent. Some people swear by it, others have had serious reactions. Just be careful and let your doctor know if anything seems off. I've used it a lot and some side effects are really common and others not so much. For example, I had a friend who had pain around the injection site, but it could be because he didn't rotate his injection sites. Just be safe

I've been on Praluent for about a year now, and the side effects for me have been pretty minimal. Just a little redness at the injection site for a day or so, nothing too bad.

Don't worry about the injection part – it's easy once you get the hang of it. The real trick is remembering to do it every other week. You got this!

I appreciate everyone's input, but I'm still pretty worried. Does anyone know if the side effects get better over time or if they stick around the whole time you're on the medication? I really don't like the idea of having to deal with muscle pain or spasms. I really want to stick with the medication and combine it with a good diet and exercise to lower my risk factors.
