Just started Pristiq 100mg - what to expect?
I've just started taking Pristiq 100mg tablets for my depression. My doctor says it should help balance my serotonin and norepinephrine, but I'm curious about others' experiences. How long did it take for you to feel the effects? What side effects did you encounter, and how did you deal with them? Any tips or things I should watch out for? I'm a bit anxious about the serious side effects listed, like serotonin syndrome. Is that something that happens often, or is it really rare? I want to be prepared for anything that might come up. What should I expect?

I had some weird symptoms like dizziness and headache which seems to be normal. But when I started having chest pain and shortness of breath, I freaked out. I thought it was a heart problem, but doctor said it was just a side effect. Definitely keep an eye on these.
I'm glad I found this thread. I've been feeling really down and my doctor prescribed Pristiq. I'm hoping it'll help. Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone. I feel a little less anxious now.
Just remember, everyone's experience is different. What works for one person might not work for another. Don't be too discouraged if you don't see immediate results.
I've always hated the idea of taking meds for depression, but Pristiq really helped me. I feel like I can function again. Its just not worth it to suffer from depression. You have to do what works.
I'm on my second week and I'm not feeling much of a difference yet. My doctor said it can take a while. Just hang in there and hope so much it will work for you
I'm confused about the sex problems side effect. Does it mean I'll have a decrease in sex drive or just issues with performance? I don't really want to ask my doctor again as he might think i am obsessed with sex life. Can anybody explain?
I had some waking up at night and sweating a lot. It was annoying to get up and change clothes and bedding. But I didn't worry about it too much. I mean I was getting better - you know? I had to just deal with it.
I've never had serotonin syndrome but I've heard it can be really dangerous. Make sure you tell your doctor about all the medications and supplements you're taking. It could interact and cause that to happen.
I've been on Pristiq for a few months now, and it's been a game-changer for me. It took about 4-6 weeks to really kick in, but once it did, my mood improved significantly. I did have some initial side effects like nausea and dizziness, but they went away after a while.
I had an allergic reaction to Pristiq. It was really scary, with hives and difficulty breathing. I had to go to the ER. If you start to feel something is really off, go get help.
