Just started Risperdal Consta 50mg Kit for Bipolar I. Scary side effects list, anyone have experience with this?
I was just prescribed Risperdal Consta 50mg Kit for my Bipolar I disorder. I'm really hoping it helps with my symptoms, but the side effects list is seriously scary. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? I’m particularly worried about the severe side effects like neuroleptic malignant syndrome and tardive dyskinesia. Any advice or personal experiences would be super helpful!

I had a really bad experience with Risperdal Consta. I started getting shakes and my blood sugar shot up so high I ended up in the ER. Definitely don't ignore those symptoms if they pop up.
I had a really bad reaction to this medication, so I switched to something else. But everyone reacts differently, you might be fine. Trust your doctor, but also trust your gut. If something doesn't feel right, speak up!
This medication is a blessin and a curse. No more daily pill routine, but the injections are a bit scary. I just remind myself it's for my own good. Side effects were mild for me, just some sleepiness and a bit of weight gain.
The weight gain is real with this stuff. Make sure you're eating healthy and exercising. It's a bummer, but manageable if you're proactive. Hang in there!
I've been on Risperdal Consta for a year now, and it's been amazing. I am symptom-free with no serious side effects. Don't let the list scare you too much.
