They had to take blood tests every other day to monitor my ammonia levels. It was a hassle, but it helped my doctor adjust the dosage. My ammonia levels were resistant to the dosage changes so we had to swap it with diazimone.
Make sure to stay hydrated and monitor your potassium levels. Low potassium was a big issue for me, but my doctor adjusted my electrolytes and it helped a lot.
This medication saved my life. I had encephalopathy from liver disease, and this drug helped clear the ammonia from my system. It's not easy, but it's worth it.
