Just started Synthroid 0.3mg (300mcg) for hypothyroidism - what to expect?
I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and my doctor prescribed Synthroid 0.3mg (300mcg) tablets. I've been taking it for a week now and I'm curious to know what others' experiences have been like. How long did it take for you to feel normal again? I've been feeling a bit jittery and experiencing some hair loss, which I know can be a side effect. Are these symptoms normal? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. I know that everyone's experience is different, but I'm eager to hear from others who have gone through this.

DO NOT TAKE SYNTHROID WITH COFFEE!! It can mess with the absorption rate. It's just something to keep in mind.
I've been on Synthroid for almost 10 years now and I can't even tell it's there. It's just a part of my routine now. Just stick with it and keep an eye on your symptoms and follow up with your doctor. This is a lifelong journey.
Imagine if the side effects were a band... they'd be called 'The Jitters' lol. Just keep an eye on it and talk to your doctor.
I don't get the jittery feeling but I do feel different if it's not taken right after a meal. YMMV! Also, make sure you're not taking any calcium supplements or iron supplements around the same time as Synthroid.
I had a terrible allergic reaction to Synthroid a couple years ago. My doctor has since switched me to Cytomel. Synthroid just didn't work for me. Everyone is different. I'm glad I didn't give up.
Did your doctor tell you to take it in the morning? It's supposed to be taken on an empty stomach. Might help with some of those side effects.
I felt jittery too, but it went away after a while. Make sure you're not taking any other medications or supplements that could interfere with Synthroid. I've heard that can make a big difference.
My doctor said that some people experience weight loss and others weight gain on Synthroid. Just something to keep an eye on. Side effects can be pretty unpredictable.
I've been on Synthroid for about 6 months now and it took me a good 3 months to start feeling like myself again. The first few weeks were rough with lots of mood swings and fatigue, but it got better. Hang in there!
Hair loss is common at the start, but it usually resolves on its own within a few months. Just give it some time. Good luck!
