I was recently prescribed Uptravi 200/800mcg for my pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). I've been nervous about starting this medication, according to what I've read the side effects can be severe. Has anyone else started this treatment recently? I’d love to hear about your experiences, both positive and negative. Any tips or advice on managing side effects would be greatly appreciated. I've been doing a lot of reading and it sounds like the most common problems are headaches and flushing, but those don’t sound so bad compared to some of the other possibilities. Did anyone else find this to be the case? Also, does anyone know if there's a big difference between the 200 and 800 dose?

I've been on Uptravi for about a year now. It took a little while to find the right dosage, but overall, it's made a big difference in my ability to exercise and just feel better overall. Flushing was an issue at first but went away over time. Headaches were worse for a while, but ibuprofen and drinking plenty of water helps. I did have some muscle pain, but that was manageable. I found that the 200 dose was much easier to handle than the 800, but it was also less effective. It might be worth discussing with your doctor to start with the 200 and work your way up as needed.

I'm on the lower dose and it's been fine so far. No major side effects, just a bit of flushing. But I'm glad I'm finally on something that's helping!

My mom was on this for a while. She had to stop because of the trouble breathing. It wasn't worth it for her, but everyone's different. Hope it works out for you!

Seriously, don't skip meals. I learned the hard way that an empty stomach can make the side effects much worse.

Be prepared for some serious jaw pain. It was the worst part for me, but thankfully it went away after a few weeks.

I've had a terrible time with this medication. The side effects were just too much to handle. I had the flu for the first month and I was just so tired all the time. I switched to a different medication and it's been much better. It's worth exploring other options if you have the same issues.
