I recently began using Abrilada injections to manage my arthritis, and I'm curious to know if anyone else has had experience with it. It's a bit scary injecting myself and I can't pinpoint if it's working yet. The most concerning thing for me is the side effects. I'm worried about the really bad ones like the allergic reactions and infections, but really I just hope it works. I did have a good chat with the pharmacist who talked me through it all enough to get my first couple of injections done. My doctor is supportive, but he hasn't given me any real timeline on when to expect results or if my body will be able to handle this drug, other than the usual rules. I've heard mixed things about it from people in my support group though.

I'm sorry to hear that. Insurance companies can be so frustrating. Hopefully your doctor can find something else that works for you.

I'm on it for psoriatic arthritis too. I've had some issues at the injection site - redness, swelling, and sometimes a bit of pain. Not sure if it's normal or not. Still working on getting my faith in it.

Hope it works for you! I've heard some people need to switch meds after a while because their body builds up a tolerance. Fingers crossed it's a miracle drug for you!

I had to stop taking Abrilada because I kept getting these weird red patches on my skin. Turns out it was a rare allergic reaction. I switched to another biologic and it's been fine ever since. I was pretty upset when I couldn't use it anymore because I did see a lot of improvement in my psoriatic arthritis. Hope you don't have to go through that.

Just wanted to chime in and say if you notice any unusual symptoms, don't wait to call your doctor. Better safe than sorry!

The injection sites can definitely be annoying, but they usually go away after a day or two. Just make sure to rotate your injection sites. Sometimes I use a numbing cream to make it less painful. You can get those at the pharmacy.

What did you take before Abrilada? Is it normal to have side effects from day one or do they usually come after a few weeks?

I've been on Abrilada for a few months now and it's been a game-changer for my Crohn's. I had a rough couple of weeks at the start with flu-like symptoms, but my doctor assured me it was just my body adjusting. I've had zero signs of infection or any of the other nasty side effects, knock on wood. My stomach pain has been lower and I feel like I have more energy.

I was on Humira before switching to Abrilada. I noticed the side effects pretty much right away, but they were minor and manageable. Everyone's different though. Some people might not have any side effects, others could have the nasty ones right away.
