I've recently started using the Nitro-Dur 0.8mg/hr Patch for managing my angina. The patch seems to help with preventing chest pain by improving blood flow, but I'm curious about others' experiences. Do you find it effective, but are there any tricks to remembering to take it off for a few hours each day? What about side effects — how severe have they been for you? Any tips for dealing with skin irritation or headaches? I've read about the potential for severe side effects, so I'm a bit nervous. Has anyone else experienced anything like that? And how do you handle the patch when you're sleeping or showering? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I had a severe allergic reaction the first time I used the patch. Rash, itching, the works. I had to go to the ER and they told me to never use nitroglycerin patches again. It was scary, but it's good to know these things can happen. Just be aware and stay safe.

Just make sure to wear the patch as prescribed. I've seen people try to wear it for longer periods to 'get more medicine,' but that can actually make the patch less effective. Trust the science and stick to the schedule.

Does anyone else get really bad headaches when they first start using the patch? I've been dealing with them for about a week now, and I'm wondering if they'll go away or if I should talk to my doctor about adjusting the dosage.

Be very careful when showering with the patch on. One slip and you could get a nasty burn from the hot water. I always take it off before showering, which means remembering to put a fresh one on afterward. Not fun, but better than a burn.

I find the patch to be a bit uncomfortable, but it's worth it for the relief it provides. One thing that helped me was using a hair dryer on low heat to warm the patch before applying it. This makes it stick better and reduces the chance of skin irritation. I also keep my patch in my nightstand drawer and set a reminder on my phone to change it every morning.
