I've just started treatment with Vancomycin 750mg/150ml IV for a severe MRSA infection. I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the serious ones. Has anyone else had experience with this antibiotic? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. Also, any tips on managing the side effects would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yikes, Red Man Syndrome sounds awful. I had Vancomycin for a different infection and didn't experience that, but I did have some stomach issues. Probiotic yogurt helped me a lot with that.

This medication is serious business. Make sure you're talking to your doctor about all the potential side effects. If you start feeling really sick or have any of those urgent side effects, go to the ER ASAP. Don't mess around with this stuff.

I worked in a hospital pharmacy and saw a lot of Vancomycin orders. The key is slow infusion rates and monitoring for those side effects. It's a powerful drug, but it can be managed with the right care.

Seriously, if you start feeling weird or having trouble breathing, go to the hospital. The allergic reactions can be life-threatening. Don't wait it out. Better safe than sorry.

Be really careful with this stuff. I had a friend who ended up in the hospital with kidney issues after taking Vancomycin. Make sure you're staying hydrated and monitoring your urine output. Better safe than sorry!
