I was recently prescribed Vasotec 20mg Tablets to manage my high blood pressure. My doctor explained that it works by relaxing blood vessels, which helps lower blood pressure and makes it easier for the heart to pump blood. I've heard it can also help prevent heart problems in people with certain conditions, like heart failure. Has anyone else been on this medication, and if so, what has your experience been like? Are there any side effects I should be particularly aware of? Also, I'm curious to know if it's okay to take it with other medications or to drink caffeine while on Vasotec.

I never had issues with Vasotec, but my friend did. She had a severe allergic reaction and had to go to the hospital. Her doctor mentioned that it was rare but possible. I think she started having the reaction after 5 days of taking it. It's crazy how different people can react to the same medication.

I'm on it too, and I've noticed a persistent cough. My doctor said it's a common side effect but it can be pretty annoying

I was prescribed Vasotec as well, but I broke out in hives. I stopped taking it and everything cleared up. Since then any time I start a new medication I google the heck out of it. It's crazy how many rare side effects drugs can have.

I've had no issues with Vasotec but it definitely made my blood pressure really low in the beginning. I had some dizziness as well. I was more than a little worried at first. I feel like I needed to get used to it. Try to stay hydrated because I was so thirsty the first few days. Monitor your blood pressure regularly, especially in the beginning. My doctor suggested using an at-home monitor and I'm glad I did because my blood pressure took a while to stabilize. And yeah... don't forget about the other side effects. Keep an eye on that stuff too.

I swear the cough is everywhere in this thread. Are you all sure that's from the drug? I've been on something similar and I didn't get a cough. Maybe it’s not the vasotec, just something else coincidental.

I've been taking Vasotec for a while now. I know that it hasn’t been the easiest to get used to. Just take it easy for the first couple days with the medication to make it easier on yourself. I had to take a day off work just to make sure that I was recovering from the side effects. Eventually I figured out some ways to better manage and mitigate the side effects.

Hmm, so far so good for me. I've not noticed much difference in my blood pressure levels but I haven’t been keeping a daily reading like you all. I have noticed some lightheadedness. I'm curious if that's something I should be concerned about? I haven't called my doctor yet. My blood pressure mainly goes up when I'm stressed, so I'm not sure if that's the drug or my stress levels.
