So, I've been prescribed Vitamin D2 50,000iu (Ergo) Capsule Rx to treat my severe Vitamin D deficiency. I've taken over-the-counter vitamin D supplements before, but this high-dose prescription seems a bit overwhelming. What's the difference between this and the OTC stuff? I've read that it can help with bone health, immune function, and other body processes, but I'm curious about the side effects and potential risks. Is it safe to take for an extended period? I'm also worried about severe allergic reactions and the long-term effects of taking such a high dose. I'm hoping to hear from others who have experienced similar prescriptions!

Be aware that this can cause kidney problems if not managed properly. Always keep track of your kidney function and stay hydrated.

I used to take this high dose and it was just bliss! I could feel the extra energy flowing through me. But if I missed a dose it was just a different animal. Definitely a lot of ups and downs.

Isn't 50,000iu a bit extreme? My doctor prescribed me a much lower dose. I would definitely want to know if this dose is necessary for you.

I've been on the same dose for a few months now. It's worked wonders for my bone density, but yeah, it's a lot stronger than the OTC stuff. Just make sure to take it with food and monitor your calcium levels.

Just got prescribed this and I'm a bit nervous. Anyone experience any long-term side effects?

I've been on this for a while and it's really helped with my bone health, but I had to deal with some pretty unpleasant side effects like nausea and vomiting. If you can't stomach the capsule, ask your doctor about liquid formulations.
