Hey everyone, I've just started taking Yeztugo 463.5mg/1.5ml Inj, 2x1.5ml injections for HIV after my virus became resistant to other treatments. I'm curious to hear from others who have gone through this. What should I expect? I've been nervous about the potential side effects, particularly the allergic reactions. I know it's rare but it's always in the back of my mind. The idea of an injection every 6 months is appealing since it's less frequent than daily pills. I'm really hoping this works since I'm running out of options. Let's discuss! How has it worked for you so far, or what are your thoughts if you know someone on them?

Could someone clarify what the ups and downs of yeast infections has to do with this drug? I've had to deal with it from time to time, but it's been strangely unpredictable. And I've never had this problem before.

I've gained some weight since starting Yeztugo, which is a bit frustrating. I know it's not a direct side effect, but I've mentioned it to my doctor. He suggests a lot of walking. It's working, but a lot of walking is required. I know this is not the same for everyone, but it's a side effect I haven't seen mentioned much. What is everyone's weight experience?

I've been on Yeztugo for about 3 months now, and let me tell you, the injection is a breeze compared to the daily pills. But the biggest relief is that my viral load has dropped significantly. I feel like I've finally got my life back. I'm back to hiking, and I've even started volunteering at an animal shelter. I have to be careful around animals, but I'm able to finally actually do things. For anyone nervous about the injections, it's really not that bad. Just take a deep breath and go for it. It's worth it. I can't believe how much I'm able to do again. It's like I can actually live my life again.

What are the injection site reactions like? I've heard people say they can be pretty intense. How long do they last?

Going through some insomnia and night sweats recently. Had no idea this could be a thing, but I guess it's possible. I'm not sure if it's related to the drug or something else. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've been on Yeztugo for about a year now. At first I was nervous too, but the injection is really not bad. The worst part was the initial oral dose, honestly.

I'm a nurse who has administered Yeztugo to a few patients. The injection site reactions can vary. Sometimes it's just a bit of redness and itching that goes away within a day or two. Other times, there can be swelling or a small lump that takes a week or so to resolve. I always remind patients to keep an eye on the injection site and report any unusual reactions to their doctor. It can be helpful to apply a cold compress for the first 24 hours. Also, make sure you're rotating injection sites. The abdomen or thigh (outer part) are good choices. Be consistent with one place for each injection, but make sure you're not getting it in the same exact spot. Keep that area clean. If you experience severe reactions, or the injection site redness lasts longer than a week, or you get swelling, or a hard lump, or the skin feels hot, or you see any pus or drainage, then it's time to call the doctor. You don't want the area to get infected. Wipe the area with an alcohol pad before injecting. And make sure you're storing the injector in the fridge (not freezer) until 30 minutes before you plan to inject.
