Just started Zidovudine 300mg Tablets. What side effects should I watch out for?
I was recently prescribed zidovudine 300mg tablets for my HIV treatment. My doctor said it would help stop the virus from multiplying. I'm taking it with other HIV meds, but I’m a bit worried about the side effects. I’ve read about some serious side effects like allergic reactions, liver problems, and lactic acidosis. Has anyone else experienced any of these? What should I do if I notice any symptoms? Also, what about the more common side effects like constipation and headaches? Any tips for dealing with them?

When I started taking Zidovudine, I had to adjust my diet and make sure I was eating healthy. I avoided greasy foods and heavy stuff.
I had a bad experience with this med. I got really bad stomach pain and had to stop taking it. It was scary, but luckily, my doctor switched me to another medication. I keep a close eye on my health when trying new meds.
I had really bad muscle pain and weakness on Zidovudine. My doctor switched me to a different med and it was much easier.
Good luck with your treatment! Just stay in touch with your doctor and don't hesitate to reach out if you need help.
I feel like the side effects are worth it if the medication works. Just be cautious and monitor your health closely. Talk to your doctor about any concerns you have.
I've heard the side effects are bad if you miss a dose, so make sure you stick to the schedule. Someone I know did and had a horrible time with it.
Lactic acidosis is serious, watch out for that. If you feel weak, dizzy, or have muscle cramps, seek help right away.
I've been on Zidovudine for a few years now. The common side effects like headaches and nausea were tough at first, but they eventually went away. Just make sure to stay hydrated and eat small, frequent meals. If you experience any severe symptoms, definitely get to a doctor ASAP.
There are other meds out there that might be easier on the body. Have you asked your doctor about alternatives?
