I was recently prescribed Solosec 2gm Oral Granules to treat bacterial vaginosis. I took it yesterday and so far, I haven't experienced any side effects. I'm curious to know if anyone else has used this medication and what their experience was like. I've read about some potential serious side effects, but it seems rare. I am mostly wondering if anyone has experienced any issues with taste changes or stomach discomfort. I noticed a slight change in taste this morning, but it's not too bad so far. I was also wondering if anyone knows if this medication is effective for trichomoniasis as well, or if it's strictly for bacterial vaginosis. I am due for a follow-up appointment with my doctor next week, so if I am feeling worse, I will call in sooner. I'm just hoping this works and I don't have to deal with this issue any longer. I’m also curious if anyone knows how long it typically takes to see results? This is my first time dealing with this issue, so any insights would be helpful.

I'm not sure about the taste change, but I remember feeling a bit queasy after taking it. It passed after a few hours, though. Just keep an eye on how you feel and if it gets bad, talk to your doctor. I'm not sure if it’s just the taste or if it’s some other weird side effect.

I had a friend who took Solosec and she said it was a game-changer. She didn't have any side effects at all and her infection cleared up within a week. She was super happy with the results and so far everything has seemed to stay away. She said the biggest concern is making sure you drink enough water afterwards to help clear it out of your body. She suggested to mix it with soda or something that can mask the powdery taste if needed. The doctor also has some suggestions.

No way I would try this if I had to deal with taste changes. I hate that side effect!

As someone who has had similar issues, I'd say it's worth a shot. It's much better than dealing with the discomfort of an untreated infection, so you really don't have much to lose.

I had heard that Solosec can be used for both bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis, but it's probably best to confirm with your doctor. The FDA site has a lot of accurate information about the potential side effects and possible trade-offs.

I think the biggest issue is making sure you take it exactly as prescribed. I know someone who took it and it didn't work because she forgot to finish it and stopped part way through. You can't really halve it for sure.
