I had my first eye exam where they used Phenylephrine 2.5% Ophthalmic Solution to dilate my pupils. The nurse said it would help my eye doctor get a better look at the back of my eye. I didn't experience any major side effects, but I was curious about others' experiences with this medication. Did anyone else feel discomfort after using it? How long did the dilation last? I wore sunglasses home to avoid sensitivity to light, but I'm curious if others had different experiences. I already knew that it could cause blurred vision or stinging, but I'm wondering if the side effects vary from person to person. Overall, it wasn't too bad, but it was my first time, so any advice would be appreciated!

I think my doctor could see better. I didn't have any trouble with it, and the side effects were minimal. Sounds like you had a similar experience, you should probably be fine next time.

I've had this done a few times. The dilation usually lasts a few hours. I always have sunglasses on standby just in case!

I had a mild allergic reaction the first time I used it. My eyes got really itchy and watery. My doctor switched me to a different eye drop solution for my next exam and I haven't had any issues since. It's always good to talk to your doctor about any concerns you might have.

I always feel like I need to stand in a dark room and blink a lot when I get this. But it always helps doctors see it clearly.

It's crazy how such a small drop can make my pupils so big. The whole experience felt a little strange, but it was over quickly.

I've never had a problem with these, but I've always been a little worried about any potential long-term effects. I think it's a good thing to talk to your doc about next time.

Okay, seriously? What if I can't see right now? My kid has put in some drops nice and quick. It's been a few hours and they're already dilated. They told me to make sure I'm close to the place seconds after putting drops in to make sure the medicine doesn't blur it or get an uncomfortable effect. No problem.

I had some eye pain after using it, but my doctor said it was normal. It's important to remember that everyone's experience can be different. If you ever feel something is really wrong, though, it's always best to talk to a professional.
