Juxtapid 20mg Capsules, containing lomitapide, are a crucial medication for people with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH). HoFH is a rare genetic condition that causes extremely high cholesterol levels, leading to an increased risk of heart disease. Juxtapid works by inhibiting a specific protein that helps produce 'bad' cholesterol (LDL-C), thereby reducing its levels in the blood.

Doctors typically prescribe this medication to patients who have not responded well to other cholesterol-lowering treatments. While Juxtapid can be highly effective, it is associated with some serious side effects that require immediate medical attention. These include signs of an allergic reaction, liver problems, chest pain, and severe diarrhea. It is essential for patients to be aware of these potential risks and to seek medical help promptly if they experience any concerning symptoms.

Common side effects of Juxtapid include digestive issues such as stomach cramps, diarrhea, and bloating. Following a low-fat diet can help mitigate these symptoms. Additionally, patients should be mindful of other possible side effects such as dizziness, weakness, and headache, and report any severe or persistent symptoms to their healthcare provider.

Reporting side effects to the FDA is an important step in ensuring the safety and efficacy of medications. If you have any concerns or questions about Juxtapid, it is crucial to discuss them with your doctor.

I read the side effects and I'm glad I didn't see any of them. Knock on wood.

I was prescribed Juxtapid last year, and it's been a game-changer. My cholesterol levels are finally under control, but I had to switch to a strict low-fat diet to manage the GI side effects.

Stick to low-fat snacks like fruit and veggies, y'all. It's a lifesaver when you're on Juxtapid and don't want to deal with the stomach issues.

I've been on Juxtapid for a few months now, and while it's helped lower my cholesterol significantly, the side effects have been rough. I've had some pretty bad stomach cramps and diarrhea. Has anyone else experienced this?

I wish my doctor had mentioned the liver problems side effect more clearly. I had some yellowing of the eyes and had to get it checked out. Scary stuff.

I've been on Juxtapid for about a year, and it has definitely helped manage my cholesterol levels. I've had some side effects, but nothing too severe. The hardest part has been adjusting my diet. I've had to cut out a lot of my favorite foods, but it's worth it for my health. I've also had to be diligent about staying hydrated, especially since I've experienced some dehydration symptoms. Overall, I think it's a good medication, but it requires a lot of lifestyle changes.

Be very careful with Juxtapid. I had to go to the ER because of severe dehydration from the diarrhea. Make sure to stay hydrated and listen to your body!

I have been on this for 6 months now. I don't have diarrhea but I am so tired all the time, like seriously no energy. I thought this would be a game changer for me, but so far I'm just feeling down
