I've been prescribed K-Tab 20meq ER Tablets for my low potassium levels, but I'm not sure if it's working. I've been experiencing some stomach pain and diarrhea, which I believe are side effects of the medication. On top of that, I am having body aches and some mental confusion. I guess it's working because my blood tests are showing I have normal potassium levels. How long can this go on? Would you recommend any supplements or dietary products to help my body with the side effects? Is it worth mentioning this to my doctor?

I had abdominal swelling. I was so scared because I have an abdominal aortic aneurysm. It turned out to be something else, but the swelling was definitely from the pill. I would talk to your doctor about switching medications or just stopping for a few days to see if your body recovers.

Have you looked into the wax matrix ? That could be part of the problem. Try taking it with a lot of water and letting it sit in your stomach for a bit, then eat after it dissolves. It can't cause you to have trouble with your body, but maybe it can reduce stomach pain.

Be careful, but I don't think you're doing anything wrong. These medications can be rough. I had terrible cramps and diarrhea with K-Tab. If it doesn't get better, talk to your doctor, but don't just stop taking it. You need that potassium.

I think you should try to get off of this medication. I had a friend who had to go to the ER because of this stuff. It caused him to have a heart attack. I know it's unlikely, but still scary to think about. I would try potassium rich food, monitor your blood levels, and talk to your doctor. Potassium pills are so dangerous.

I had to switch to a liquid potassium supplement because the tablets were giving me such bad stomach issues. Also, if you're taking a diuretic, that can cause your potassium levels to drop again. It's a vicious cycle, I know.

I had no idea potassium could cause such bad side effects. Good luck!
