Kalydeco 50mg Oral Granules (ivacaftor) has been a game-changer for many cystic fibrosis (CF) patients, especially for those with certain genetic mutations. By improving the function of the CFTR protein, Kalydeco helps to reduce the thick mucus that causes symptoms. This medicine is particularly beneficial for young children who cannot swallow pills, thanks to its granular form. However, like any medication, it comes with potential side effects. Some of the more severe side effects can be life-threatening and require immediate medical attention. From what I've read, it's crucial to recognize the signs of an allergic reaction, liver problems, and high blood sugar right away. Has anyone had personal experience with administering Kalydeco to young children? How has it impacted their daily lives? Are there any tips for managing the possible side effects?

Has anyone had to deal with changes in eyesight? That’s one of the more unusual side effects mentioned, and I’d love to hear if anyone has experienced it. Thanks!

Liver problems? I wonder how often this actually happens. Anyone have stats?

I've heard that some people have had issues with liver problems. It's scary to think about, but I guess that's why it's so important to monitor closely. Always worth it if it helps with CF symptoms.

Just started administering Kalydeco to my daughter. She's only 3, so the granules have been a blessing. Just worried about the potential side effects, like allergic reactions. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Kalydeco has been a blessing. My son was suffering from regular, severe lungs infections before starting the medication, but since starting the granules, he’s been much happier and healthier. No major side effects here, just occasional stomach discomfort, but it's worth it
