Kerydin 5% Topical Solution 10ml: A game-changer for toenail fungus, or too long of a process?
I've been suffering from toenail fungus for years, and after trying many over-the-counter treatments with no luck, my doctor prescribed Kerydin 5% Topical Solution. The instructions say to apply it once a day for 48 weeks. That's nearly a year! I'm hoping it works, but I'm also dreading the long treatment period. Has anyone else used Kerydin? How did you stick to the treatment plan? I'd love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have! Also, the list of you can encounter side effects is long, and most concerning is the urgent side effect of an ingrown toenail.

I used Kerydin for about 6 months and then stopped. I couldn't deal with the long treatment time. I just kept reminding myself that I had to keep applying every night for 48 weeks. I'm not sure if that was enough, but I haven't noticed it getting worse either.
I'm on week 30 of my Kerydin journey. At this point, it's worth it because I can see the fungus receding. I've never had a problem with side effects, but I did have some intense reactions to a topical treatment before. I think it's worth it if you can stick to the treatment plan.
Kerydin saved my life. Literally. I had a fear of going to my toenail fungus for years, but the whole time I'm talking to my doctor, I'm thinking this will be a great embarrassment for me, but in the end, it was much worse. I had to have surgery to remove the toenail. If I had started treatment sooner, I might have avoided that. Now I'm just thankful to have my toenail back.
I think it helps to set reminders. I put mine on my phone for the same time every day, so I don't forget to apply it. Also, I keep the bottle right by my toothbrush, so I remember and apply it in the shower.
The side effects were pretty bad. I developed a rash on the toes I had applied the solution. I had to stop using the drug for a while until I could get my rashes cleared up.
To be honest, I gave up after a month of constant irritation. It was such a hassle. If I could find something that I could use instead I would use that instead.
Just be careful you don't accidentally apply it to your other toenails. It has to be applied on the exact toenails you are treating, and not to your other nails. I forgot and applied it everywhere the first week.
I'm actually glad it's a long treatment period. It makes me feel like I'm really attacking the fungus. I was worried about using it for so long, but it feels like I'm really doing something.
I will say, if you do try this, it's worth it to get the 10ml for a month at a time. You can get the 20ml for two months, but it's a bad deal.
I think the ingrown toenail is a weird side effect. Are the doctors sure it's caused by the drug rather than just a coincidence?.
