Koselugo 25mg Capsules have been recently approved for treating children with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) who have plexiform neurofibromas (PNs). This condition can cause significant issues in the lives of children who have it. Does anyone have experience with this medication? What are some of the common side effects and how are there treated? How do they help with the treatment of NF1?

This is such an important drug for those who have NF1. My son has been diagnosed, and has been getting treatments after treatments. I hope there are side effects that we can manage. What are some good resources for parents to learn more about managing side effects?

Absolutely. The side effect list is scary, but the drug can also be a life saver. NF1 is miserable for the kids, so getting a treatment that can slow or shrink the tumors is probably worth it. But it is a watch and wait situation.

I'm skeptical, honestly. How many clinical tests have been done, and have they included long-term effects. My daughter has NF1, and I want to make sure any treatment we try won't cause more problems down the line.

I've heard about Koselugo but I'm surprised by the potential side effects, including heart failure and serious skin reactions. Has anyone else seen this? It's a bit scary.

Koselugo sounds like a game changer. I mean, finally a treatment that gets to the root cause of the tumors instead of just managing symptoms.

One thing that really needs to be taken into account is the psychological impact on children with NF1. They've usually had a hard time physically and mentally. Can this treatment make a real difference in quality of life?

I've seen some amazing results from Koselugo so far. It's definitely worth doing more research into this drug. My daughter’s tumors have shrunk, and she seems like she has a lot more energy. She went from crying in pain all the time to playing and running outside.

My nephew has NF1 and just started Koselugo. The first month is going well, but we have been managing some of the side effects. Mainly he has had stomach pain and diarrhea. His doctor said it's normal and to make sure he stays hydrated — hopefully it gets better soon. Definitely a watch-and-wait approach, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I think everyone needs to remember that these treatments are not a one-size-fits-all solution. Each child will respond differently, and it is up to parents to make the right call in conjunction with their trusted doctors.
