I'm considering getting the Kyleena IUD for birth control, but I'm nervous about the potential side effects. I've heard horror stories about severe pain, heavy bleeding, and even mood changes. I've also read that it can be super effective for some people, providing up to 5 years of hassle-free birth control. Has anyone here had the Kyleena IUD inserted? What was your experience like? Did you have any side effects, and if so, how severe were they? How did your doctor handle them? I'm really looking for some personal accounts to help me make an informed decision. Thanks in advance, ladies!

I had the Kyleena inserted last year and I wish I would have never done it. I've been throwing up every day, have giant pimples all over my face, and have gained like 15 pounds. My doctor says it's not the Kyleena but I don't believe it. I'm hoping it's just a temporary phase since she said the side effects will eventually go away: it's the 6th month in and all of these symptoms are still really bad. I want to rip it out now.

I'm considering the Kyleena but I'm scared of the side effects. I've heard stories about people gaining weight, having mood swings, and even getting depression. I don't want to deal with that. But I also want a reliable birth control method. Has anyone had any of these side effects and how did you deal with it?

I had the Kyleena put in and it's amazing. It's changed my life and has only improved it. I have a low sex drive and I think that has something to do with it. But I don't know for sure. I don't want to remove it and then have to find a new method.

Did you try other birth control methods before the IUD?

I've had my Kyleena for about 2 years now and I'm pretty happy with it. The insertion was a bit painful, but nothing I couldn't handle. I had some spotting for a few months, but that went away. I've noticed my periods are much lighter, which is a huge plus. I did have some mood swings at first, but they leveled out after a few months. Definitely talk to your doctor about it, but I think it's a good option.

At first, I thought it was going to be a game-changer. The first three months were terrible. I had the worst cramps. It was so painful I wanted to cry but didn't stop me from working out. I've never experienced anything like that before. Since then, I've been okay. My body just needed to adjust to it. So hang in there. My periods have been way lighter which is nice. Definitely worth it.

I had the copper IUD and it was awful. I got the Kyleena after that because I heard it was a lighter version. The cramps are still getting used to but I feel better overall right now. Even though it was expensive and hard to get in the Netherlands (I live in Groningen).
