I've been on Lamictal XR 250mg for a few months now, and while it's helped stabilize my moods, I've been dealing with some pretty nasty side effects. I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences. The dizziness and drowsiness are manageable, but the stomach issues and joint pain are getting out of hand. Has anyone found ways to mitigate these side effects? Or am I just stuck dealing with them? Also, what should I do if I experience any of the more serious side effects listed? I'm a bit worried about some of the scary stuff like HLH or liver problems. Any advice from others who have been through this would be greatly appreciated!

I've been on this medication for about six months and haven't experienced any of the serious side effects, thank goodness. But I did have some dizziness and nausea at the beginning. I found that taking it right before bed helped with those symptoms.

I've been on Lamictal XR for over a year now, and while it's helped a lot with my bipolar disorder, the side effects were brutal at first. I had terrible insomnia and dizziness, but it got better after a few weeks. As for the serious side effects, I'd definitely call your doctor if you notice anything alarming. Better safe than sorry!

I agree that keeping a log of your symptoms is a good idea. It helps you track what's happening and gives your doctor more data to work with. Plus, it can be really satisfying to see how far you've come over time.

Stay on top of those blood tests. That's how you catch the serious stuff early. I'm so glad I listened to my doctor when my blood counts were low. Definitely no fun, but better to deal with it than risk the alternative.

Lamictal saved my life but it wasn't easy. The worst was when I experienced a severe rash and swelling. Turns out I was having an allergic reaction. My doctor switched me to a different medication which was much better than Lamictal XR.

I've heard horror stories about Lamictal. I hope you feel better soon.

Serious side effects are scary, but they're rare. Just be aware of the symptoms and act quickly if you notice anything. I had a friend who ignored some weird symptoms and ended up in the hospital.

I'm really sorry to hear that you're dealing with all this. But it's great that you're noticing some improvement in your moods. Hang in there—it can take time to find the right balance with medications. You're not alone!

Just a reminder to everyone: always take these meds as prescribed. Don't mess around with the dose or timing. It can make a huge difference in how well they work and how bad the side effects are. Be patient. You'll find a good balance.
