I've been on dialysis for a few years now and have struggled to keep my phosphorus levels in check. My doctor recently prescribed Lanthanum 500mg Chewable Tablets, and I'm curious to hear from others who might have experience with this medication. How well did it work for you? Did you experience any severe side effects or even just minor ones? I'm particularly interested in knowing how it affects your daily routine. Let's share tips, concerns, and personal experiences so we can all benefit from each other's insights.

The FDA has a list of all the possible side effects. I would recommend checking that out. I was really scared when I started too but it turned out to be ok. I haven't had any side effects, personally.

I'm just starting on Lanthanum next week. My doctor said it will help with my phosphorus levels, but I'm a bit worried about the side effects. Has anyone experienced severe side effects?

I've been feeling a lot better since I started taking it. My dialysis appointments are a lot smoother since I've started managing this on my own plan and it's made me a lot healthier overall. Plus the people at the lab are so nice and I feel a part of their team.

I remember when this was approved. The clinical trials showed it was more effective than some of the older options out there. It's definitely worth giving it a shot if your doc okays it. It's not the most pleasant thing to chew though. I always wash it down with a glass of my favorite soft drink to help with the taste

I had a bit of a rough start, but overall I'm really happy with Lanthanum. I didn't have many side effects and it helps keep everything in check. The only thing is it's a little inconvenient to chew, but it's worth it for the results.

I keep a food diary to remind myself what I can eat to get the best results. It's not always easy to stick to these things but I'm feeling better overall on this plan. This Lanthanum stuff works really well, and I've been really happy with how it's been working.

I tried it for a few months while also doing dialysis, but I couldn't handle the side effects. The constipation was unbearable and the only thing that helped it was stool softener. I switched to another phosphorus binder and it's been much better for me.
