I've been taking Levothyroxine 0.088mg (88mcg) tablets for hypothyroidism for about six months now. Initially, I felt a significant improvement in my energy levels and overall well-being. However, I've recently started experiencing some side effects that I wasn't expecting. I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has gone through something similar. I've heard that weight gain is a common side effect, but I haven't experienced that. However, I've been having trouble sleeping and feeling restless at night, which is quite frustrating. I've also noticed some irregularities in my menstrual cycle, which is worrying. I've been considering talking to my doctor about adjusting the dosage, but I'm not sure if that's the right move. Has anyone else had similar experiences or advice on managing these side effects? I'd really appreciate some insights from others who are going through the same thing.

Hair loss has been my biggest issue. I started taking Levothyroxine about a year ago, and within a few months, I noticed significant hair thinning. It’s been really tough on my self-esteem. Has anyone else experienced this, or is there anything I can do to mitigate it?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a tough time. Everyone reacts differently to medications, and it can take some time to find the right balance. In addition, you might want to ask your doctor about getting a thyroid function test to ensure everything is in order.

I'm so glad I'm not alone in this. I've had trouble sleeping but I'm scared to reach out to my doctor in case they increase my meds. I don't want to deal with a higher dose. Has anyone got any tips?

I honestly think some of the side effects are just part of the deal with hypothyroidism, medication or not. Take it from a young teen, it's not fun. But I've been exercising religiously and trying to eat as cleanly as possible since it's a big part of maintaining a healthy thyroid. Wish me luck!

I was told by my doctor that side effects aren't always dealt with just by changing dosages. She suggested a combination of meds. I'm currently on a much lower dose of Levothyroxin and I take Synthroid daily. It's been working. I feel a lot more balanced.

I cannot believe I was going to stop my treatment because of the hair loss. I had no clue it was a common side effect. I was completely freaking out. Thanks for sharing everyone. My doc told me more about it and I feel a lot more at ease. I'm glad I didn't just stop taking it.

I had a similar experience — restless sleep and mood swings were my main issues. I tried a few things, like adjusting my diet and adding magnesium supplements, which seemed to help a bit. Also, avoid caffeine and exercise regularly. It's a bit trial and error, but it can get better.

Seriously, what is up with the weight gain? I've gained 20 lbs in two months, and it's frustrating because I've maintained the exact same diet and exercise routine. Has anyone else experienced weight gain on Levothyroxine?

I've been on Levothyroxine for years and I've had similar issues with sleep. It took a while to find the right dosage, but once I did, most of the side effects went away. Be patient and keep communicating with your doctor.

I swear by green tea when I feel restless. It has helped me manage my sleep issues. Obviously see a doctor before you make any changes. But also, try to get some light exercise before bed and avoid screens an hour before you sleep.
