I've recently started using Lidocaine 5% Topical Ointment to manage some persistent itching. It's been a lifesaver for the pain relief, but I'm curious to know if others have had similar experiences. The ointment works by numbing the area, so it's great for short-term relief, but I sometimes worry about possible side effects. Has anyone else dealt with side effects like irritation, redness, or even the more severe symptoms? I've also been wondering, how many of you have used this to treat other conditions successfully? Has anyone tried it for shingles or other nerve pain and have some success stories? Any advice on managing potential side effects or tips for using this ointment effectively would be greatly appreciated! I hope we can share tips and support each other in this thread.

Don't forget, if you do experience any severe side effects like trouble breathing or seizures, seek medical attention immediately.

I've heard that prolonged use can lead to more serious side effects like methemoglobinemia, especially in young children. Just a heads-up to be careful with this stuff.

I used it for a minor skin procedure. It worked great for numbing the area, but I did experience some mild irritation afterward.

I've used it for years for a chronic skin condition. It's the only thing that gives me relief. Just be careful not to overuse it.

I had no idea this could cause such severe side effects. I have some at home and I'm gonna check the expiration date just in case.

I've found that applying a thin layer and covering it with a bandage helps to keep the ointment in place and reduces the amount needed. Plus, it's less messy than using this stuff under a bandage.
