I've been taking Gabapentin 300mg once daily for about three months now to manage my postherpetic neuralgia. It's been a game-changer in terms of reducing the burning and shooting pain, but I've also experienced some side effects that I'm trying to navigate. Has anyone else had similar experiences? How did you deal with the side effects? Specifically, I've been feeling pretty drowsy and dizzy at times, and I'm curious if this improves over time or if there are strategies to mitigate these issues.

I had a really bad reaction to it. Swelling, trouble breathing, the works. Ended up in the ER. Scary stuff, be careful!

There are some dietary changes that might help with the side effects. The dizziness was less intense when I cut down on caffeine and increased my water intake. Sometimes our bodies can use an electrolyte boost. I know someone who took a probiotic and that also helped

Really? Things are different for everyone. I’ve been fine on this med. In fact, I've been feeling better than ever, apart from the occasional dry mouth. Don’t quit yet. I think dry mouth is normal, but let me know if you figure out a way to improve it.

I've had a similar experience as the OP. The dizziness was tough, but I found that getting more sleep helped a lot. Even if you think you're getting enough, try adding an extra hour or two. It made a big difference for me. Also, stay hydrated! Sometimes our bodies can use an electrolyte boost.

Dizziness and drowsiness are pretty common with this medication, but so are some other side effects. Keep an eye out for any severe reactions. It's always a good idea to consult with your doctor if things get worse or new symptoms arise. Plus, I think they might adjust the dosage. Have you tried any alternatives? I felt like that was a big help.

I feel like a zombie. I can't function at work.

If you're experiencing severe side effects, it might be worth talking to your neurologist about other treatment options. There are alternatives like pregabalin or even topical treatments that might work better for you. Don't suffer in silence!

I was on this for a while and the dizziness was pretty intense. My doctor switched me to a different medication, and it's been much better since then, good luck!

I've been on Gabapentin for over a year, and the dizziness did go away after a few weeks for me. But I still deal with the drowsiness. I take my dose at night, and it's been manageable that way.

I felt like I had to quit smoking weed last time I used this, did anyone else have that problem? I don't know if it was the gabapentin or just coincidence, but I had to stop because it was making me so paranoid.
