Life Changing? Carbidopa/Levodopa/Entacapone 50-200-200mg Tb for Parkinson's: Side Effects & 'Off' Time Reduction
I've just started taking Carbidopa/Levodopa/Entacapone 50-200-200mg Tb for my Parkinson's and I'm hoping to hear from others who have experience with this combo. I've read about the potential side effects, but I'm curious about real-life experiences. Have any of you noticed a significant reduction in 'off' times? How have the side effects impacted your daily life? Any tips for managing them?

This medication has been a blessing. The reduction in 'off' times has improved my quality of life significantly. Just be vigilant about the side effects and communicate with your doctor.
Has anyone tried adjusting their diet to help with the side effects? I've heard that certain foods can help mitigate some of the issues.
Anyone else have issues with uncontrollable urges? I started gambling more than I should have, and it was affecting my finances. Thankfully, my family noticed and we got it under control.
I wish I had known about the neuroleptic malignant syndrome warning sooner. I stopped my meds abruptly and ended up in the hospital. Please, if you're taking this, talk to your doctor before making any changes.
I've had no major issues with this combo. Just some mild dizziness and occasional headaches. Nothing compared to the improvement in my symptoms.
Anyone else get hallucinations? I started seeing things that weren't there and it was really freaking me out. My neurologist adjusted my dose and it stopped.
I've been on this combo for about a year now, and it's been a game-changer for me. My 'off' times have reduced dramatically, but I did experience some dizziness and drowsiness at first. It's mostly subsided now.
I switched to this from my previous meds and the difference is night and day. The entacapone really helps levodopa last longer. However, I did have some trouble with nausea at first. My doctor prescribed some anti-nausea meds and that helped a lot.
Be careful with the sudden, uncontrollable sleepiness. I had an episode while driving and it was terrifying. Now I make sure to take it right before bed.
