I've been on Hydroxyurea 500mg for a few months now for my sickle cell anemia, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer. My painful crises have significantly decreased, and I feel like I have more energy throughout the day. However, I've also experienced some side effects that I wasn't expecting. I wanted to share my experience and hear from others who have been on this medication. How has it worked for you? What side effects have you encountered, and how have you managed them? Do you have regular blood tests? What has been your experience with the doctors ordering the medication?

I'm on this medication for sickle cell anemia as well. The side effects are definitely manageable compared to the number of pain crises i've had without it. However, one thing I noticed that no one told me was about the skin ulcers. I developed some on my legs and had to go to the ER. Just be vigilant about any skin changes!

The medication has really helped me feel more in control of my body, but I’ve had to adjust my diet to combat the nausea and upset stomach. It's been a bit of a learning curve, but it's worth it.

Noticed some changes in my skin and fingernails too. Just make sure to keep track of any unusual symptoms!

All in all, it's a good medication but be careful with side effects!
