I've been prescribed Sodium Chloride 5% Ophthalmic Solution to reduce swelling in my cornea. I've heard it can help improve vision by drawing out excess water, but I'm a bit concerned about the potential side effects. Has anyone else used this eye drop? What was your experience like? Were the side effects manageable, or did you encounter any serious issues? I'm especially worried about the allergic reactions and changes in eyesight that can come with it. I've heard comments about how effectively it works. Any insights or advice?

What about the long-term use? Has anyone used this for extended periods, like months? Any concerns?

But it's not magic. It's just water and salt. My doctor said it works through osmosis to draw fluid out of the eye. It has to be 5% saline, any less and it won't work.

Be aware that while this eye drop is generally safe, a small number of people have experienced severe allergic reactions including severe eye irritation, trouble breathing and hives. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical help right away. Also, remember these are not drops for contact lenses wearers as they are not intended for protecting or removing contact lenses.

I've seen those warnings, but honestly, I've never heard of anyone with those reactions. They must be super rare. I've used them for a while and have no problems at all.
