I've been prescribed Tranylcypromine 10mg Tablets, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), after trying several other antidepressants without success. This medication is used to treat severe depression when other treatments haven’t worked, but I'm hearing mixed things about it. Some people call it life-changing, while others say it's a last resort due to its potential side effects. It increases the levels of certain natural substances in the brain that help regulate mood, but the list of possible side effects is intimidating. Has anyone had experience with this medication? What was your experience like? Did the benefits outweigh the risks?

This thread is a bit frightening, tbh

Be very careful with this one. The diet restrictions are a pain, but what's really scary are the potential interactions with other medications. I had to avoid anything with tyramine, which meant no aged cheeses, cured meats, or even some beer.

I contracted serotonin syndrome from mixing Parnate (Tranylcypromine) with other meds and felt like I had the worst flu ever. I still feel paranoid about a repeat. Use this stuff carefully!

I hope the diet restrictions aren't too hard to follow
