I've been using Pilocarpine 4% eye drops for the past month to manage my glaucoma. Initially, I was cautious due to the side effects listed. I had heard stories from my doctor and friends about it being a game-changer for some but a nightmare for others. After a few weeks, I've experienced some mild irritation and temporary dimness, but nothing severe. The eye pressure has significantly improved, which is a relief. I am curious to hear from others: has anyone had severe side effects, or is it mostly manageable? Also, does anyone know if there are alternative treatments that might be worth trying?

Glaucoma is no joke, but neither are the side effects. My mom had a retinal detachment, and it was terrifying. If anyone experiences sudden vision changes, go straight to the ER.

I've heard some people say they can get the same effect from certain supplements. Has anyone tried that?

I find that applying the drops after taking a warm shower can reduce the temporary dimness for a few hours.

I got severe eye irritation from Pilocarpine. I actually had to stop using it, and now I'm exploring other options. It was a bit scary, but my new drops are working well.

I've done a lot of research on Pilocarpine and its alternatives. I still have questions about the long-term effects. Anyone know if there are long-term studies? Can anyone point me towards some quality sources of information?

I'm glad I found this thread. I just started Pilocarpine and was worried about the side effects. Knowing others are going through the same thing is comforting.

Do any of these drops have caffeine in them? I've heard that caffeine can help with eye pressure, so maybe it could reduce the dosage you would need? Has anyone tried it?
