I've been considering the Baclofen 50mcg/ml Pf Syr, 1ml intrathecal injection for my muscle spasticity. It's supposed to be delivered directly into the fluid around your spinal cord using a special pump, and it's meant to help with very stiff muscles caused by conditions like multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, or cerebral palsy when other medicines haven't worked. I'm a bit worried about the side effects though, especially the urgent ones. Has anyone had experience with this? What should I expect? Are the benefits worth the risks?

I had the pump put in last year. The surgery wasn't too bad, but the recovery was tough. Constant dizziness and fatigue for the first few weeks. But after that, the spasticity in my legs improved dramatically. I can walk better and even do some physical therapy exercises now. It's worth it for me, but everyone's experience is different.

Does anyone know if the pump can be removed easily if the side effects are too much to handle?

I had to have my pump replaced last month because it malfunctioned. It was a hassle, but the hospital handled it well. Just make sure you have good insurance and a solid support system.

I'm sorry, but this is scary to me. I would not wish this upon my worst enemy. I had a friend who had this done. went through the pump implant surgery to help with her MS-related spasticity, but she ended up with severe side effects. It's really scary to think about what this could do to you. I would rather suffer with the spasticity than risk what she went through.
