Life-Changing or Side Effect Nightmare with Synjardy XR 5-1000mg Tablets?
I've been on Synjardy XR 5-1000mg for about 4 months now and I have to share my experience. It's been a roller coaster. At first, I had high hopes for this medication. It's supposed to help lower blood sugar levels by helping the kidneys remove more sugar and reducing the amount of sugar made by the liver. My doctor said it was great for type 2 diabetes. I did notice an improvement in my blood sugar levels. But, the side effects have been a bit of a nightmare. I've had mild diarrhea, nose irritation, and even some headaches. I thought these would subside, but they’ve been consistent. I’ve also had a couple of scares with symptoms like increased thirst and abnormal heartbeat. I was honestly terrified and had to go to the ER. Luckily they said it was just my body adjusting and not life-threatening, but I don't want to live in that kind of uncertainty. The yeast infection side effects are a whole different problem, and I don’t feel good knowing this is going to become a regular issue. Some friends who have been on similar meds mentioned feeling more tired and weak, but I haven’t felt that. It's a trade-off, but sometimes I just wonder if it's worth it. Has anyone else had similar experiences? What helps you? I'm so desperate to find a balance between control and comfort. If anyone has tips or advice...I’d love to hear it!!

I switched to this from a different medication and it’s been a game-changer, but I am starting to experience the same side effects you are. I’m going to talk to my doctor and see what can be done.
I've been on Synjardy XR for over a year and have had very few side effects. It’s helped me manage my blood sugar much better. Just listen to your body and keep your doctor in the loop. It’s worth the trade-off if diabetes is a problem. But if you’re experiencing bad side effects, it might be worth looking into other options.
Trying to manage type 2 diabetes is so hard. I can't even imagine relying on a medication with these side effects. I'm better off with my diet and exercise.
It’s scary to think about the serious side effects, but both of the drugs in Synjardy XR are well-tested. Empagliflozin and metformin are both commonly used to manage type 2 diabetes, and they work differently to help control your blood sugar. Empagliflozin works by helping your kidneys remove more sugar from your body through your urine, while metformin works by reducing the amount of sugar your liver makes and helping your body use insulin more effectively. If you’re experiencing serious side effects, it’s definitely worth talking to your doctor about adjusting the dosage or switching to a different medication.
I get severe yeast infections and UTIs with this medication. There are definitely trade-offs but the medication is worth it to me. I just have to watch myself closely and treat all those issues when they pop up. You might have to do the same.
I've had the same issues with yeast infections. It's so frustrating, and my doctor suggested switching to a different medication that might be gentler on the system. It's a hassle, but it might be worth the switch if the side effects get too bad.
This is EXACTLY why I always try to exercise more before popping pills.
There are also a set of tablets similar to this drug that saved my life but came with its own set of side effects. I recommend going to the doc and explaining all side effects, even the seemingly benign ones. They might adjust your dosage or switch you to another medication.
Your doctor did mention that it could cause the side effects; I would speak to them about possibly changing to a different drug or adjusting the dosage.
That's what I was worried about: the rare side effects. I've been on the medication for 7 months and I've never had the symptoms you mentioned. Maybe its worth double-checking the dosage?
