I've been struggling with acne for years and recently started using Aczone 5% Gel. I'm seeing some improvement, but I'm also dealing with dryness and irritation. I'm wondering if this is normal or if it might be worth switching to another treatment. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'd also like to know more about the potential side effects. I saw some pretty worrying stuff on the warning label. I've read a lot about how the dapsoe may also cause a hazardous condition called methemoglobinemia. How common is this? I'm not sure if I should keep using this and hope for the best, or cut my losses and try something else.

My dermatologist prescribed Aczone to me a few months ago, and it's definitely helped with my acne. I did have some irritation initially, but it went away after a couple of weeks. As for the side effects, I haven't experienced any major issues so far. I did have some dryness, but using a good moisturizer has helped with that. I would recommend sticking with it for at least a month before giving up. Also, make sure you're applying it correctly - a thin layer is all you need!

My skin felt so irritated when I started Aczone and my whole face got really red and itchy. But my doctor told me it was normal and it would calm down. I didn't know what to do, but in the end I just stuck it out. I'm glad I did because it's definitely been helping.

I've been using Aczone for a while now, and I've had no issues. Just make sure you're really sensitive to the acid in it. It's easy to get too much on the skin and make it worse.

The warnings are concerning, but it's important to note that severe side effects are rare. I've been using Aczone for months without any issues, except some dryness. It's worth a chat with your dermatologist, but don't let the list of potential side effects scare you off entirely.

I haven't had any problems with irritation. But the first few times I used it, my skin was tingling for a while. I think that was just the gel working.

If your skin is really dry it might be worth cutting back to every other day for a while, then gradually building back up.

To be honest, I've heard some really scary things about this. I've got to admit, that long list of possible side effects is enough to have me questioning whether I should even risk it. Has anyone had a bad reaction? If so, how bad was it and how did you deal with it?
