Life Saver or Skin Burner? Hydrocortisone 2.5% Lotion Experience Thread
I've been using Hydrocortisone 2.5% Lotion for my eczema for a few weeks now, and I've had mixed results. I've noticed that my skin is less itchy, but the affected area has also been drying out. I've also found that the lotion makes my skin more sensitive to the sun. I've read the side effects but I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced severe skin changes or throat tightness? Has anyone else had these experiences, or am I just being paranoid? Also, any tips on how to use it without drying out my skin? Do I have to use moisturizer in conjunction or should I be applying it sparingly? Any advice or shared experiences would be appreciated!

I had a bad reaction to this stuff – I got huge hives all over my body! I'm guessing there's one of those rare or not documented side effects. I had to rush to the ER for a shot of Benadryl. I had no idea that the normal itchiness and redness of my eczema could turn into such a full body reaction.
I've had no luck with this stuff. I've tried it a few times, but it never seems to work for me. My skin just feels all weird and gooey. I wish there was something else I could use for my eczema.
I've used this for my kids' eczema, and it worked great. A little goes a long way, so I usually apply a thin layer then rinse it off after a couple of hours. Nobody's had any issues with it. The doctor also told me it's best to avoid using it on the face.
I've been using this lotion for years for my dermatitis, and it's been a lifesaver. I haven't had any major side effects, but I do notice some dryness. I've found that applying a heavy moisturizer after the lotion helps a lot. Also, be careful with sun exposure – it can make your skin more sensitive.
I've been using this for my bug bites, and it's worked great! No itch or redness at all. I've never had any side effects, but I don't use it very often. Just a thin layer and it's gone in no time. I never thought I'd be using something like this for bug bites, but it's been a lifesaver.
I had a friend who used this and ended up with a severe skin infection. She had to go on antibiotics for a while. I'm not sure if it was because of the lotion, but it's something to think about. I had a bad reaction to it. I'm wondering if it's worth the risk.
