I've been on dialysis for a few years now and my doctor recently prescribed Venofer to help with my iron deficiency anemia. I've had my first couple of doses and I'm not sure what to expect. The side effects list is huge and it's got me pretty worried. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? Did you have any severe side effects? I've heard it can be life-threatening. How can I keep an eye out for that? I've also had some issues with iron pills in the past. Is there anything I should know? I'd appreciate any feedback from those who have been through this.

I had awful nausea and vomiting. Doc gave me something to help with that. I know it's not much fun, but it’s worth it to get your iron levels up.

I've been on Venofer for months and I'm fine. I actually felt better after the treatments, not worse. You got this!

My sister had a bad reaction but was totally fine after getting treated. She's on it every month now and she's doing perfectly fine.

Venofer saved my life, literally. I had a really bad reaction the first time, but my doc monitored me closely and we got through it. Now I'm feeling great! Keep an eye out for those allergic reactions, though. They're no joke.

I've had three treatments without any issues. I got dizzy for a bit, but that's about it. Doc said that’s common.

Just started it. Wish me luck! I’ll report back if anything major happens.

I had a mild reaction. I ended up with a rash, but the doctor gave me something to counteract it and I was fine. Be sure to tell your doctor about any other meds you're on, just in case.

I had some weird taste changes. Not terrible, just weird. Doc said it’s a known side effect from iron meds.

I had terrible muscle cramps and joint pain after my first dose. The doctor adjusted the dose and it got better. Stick with it, but talk to your doctor if something feels off.
