I've been prescribed Captopril/HCTZ 50/15 tablets for my high blood pressure, and while they've been effective, I'm a bit concerned about the potential side effects. The list is quite long, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced any of these issues. I'm particularly worried about the kidney problems and persistent cough mentioned. Has anyone had to deal with these, and if so, how did you manage them? Also, I'm curious about the skin cancer risk—does anyone know if this is something I should be extremely concerned about, or is it rare? I'd love to hear from others who have been on this medication and have some insights to share.

Do you guys know if the skin cancer risk is something worth worrying about? I've been using sunscreen religiously. Anyone have any insights on this?

I've actually never heard of this drug causing skin cancer. You should be fine as long as you're using a good sunscreen and getting regular checks at the dermatologist.

The kidney problems are serious, so make sure to get regular check-ups. My doctor monitors my kidney function every six months. I also make sure to drink plenty of water and avoid excessive salt. It's a bit of a hassle, but it's worth it to keep my kidneys healthy. The persistent cough can be annoying, but it's usually not a big deal. Just make sure to talk to your doctor if it gets bad.

The more you read about the side effects, the more scared you get. Just take it one step at a time and don’t let the fear of side effects overwhelm you. It’s a powerful combination for lowering blood pressure, and it’s worked wonders for me.

I've been on this med for a while and haven't had any major issues. Just make sure to stay hydrated and monitor your electrolytes.

I’ve been on Captopril/HCTZ 50/15 for over a year and have had some severe dizziness. My doctor said it’s a rare effect but common enough. I managed it by making sure I drank plenty of water and took my meds at night so I could sleep through any dizziness. Feeling a bit weak and having some odd pains in my muscles, but I'm on the mend. Just be aware of these potential issues and stay in close touch with your doctor.

I wish I had known about the sun sensitivity. I got a nasty sunburn within 20 minutes of outdoor activity and no sunscreen. I've had to be super careful since then.
