I've been taking Hydrea 500mg Capsules for my sickle cell anemia for about a year now. While it's definitely helped reduce the frequency of painful crises, the side effects can be tough to manage. Has anyone else experienced significant hair loss or skin issues? I'm looking for tips on how to cope with these side effects and improve my overall quality of life while on this medication.

I've also noticed that some people on here mention changes in moles or skin lumps. I've been worried about that, but my doctor has reassured me that regular check-ups and monitoring will help keep an eye on these potential issues. I'm curious to know if anyone has had any strange or concerning experiences with their skin while taking Hydrea.

It's tough, but managing it with the right care. Keeping your skin clean and applying topical ointments as directed by your doctor can help a lot.

I've been on Hydrea for CML. I have had a couple of episodes of skin ulcers.. I immediately contacted my doctor and he prescribed some antibiotics and a topical ointment. I must say this is a nightmare. I must say this is a nightmare. I'm not sure if this is worth the risk. Anyone else have this experience?

I've been lucky with minimal side effects, but I've heard horror stories about lung problems. If you experience any breathing difficulties, seek immediate medical help. Better safe than sorry.

I've been on Hydrea for a while now, and the hair loss was definitely the worst part for me. I started using a really gentle shampoo and conditioner, and it helped a bit. Also, wearing a wig or scarf can be a lifesaver for days when you don't want to deal with it.
