Living with HAE: My Experience with Sajazir 30mg/3ml Inj for Acute Attacks
Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare genetic condition that causes sudden and severe episodes of swelling. For those living with HAE, sudden attacks can be debilitating and even life-threatening. Icatibant, marketed as Sajazir 30mg/3ml Inj, is a game-changer. It works by blocking bradykinin, the substance that triggers swelling in HAE attacks. I've been using Sajazir for the past year, and it's made a significant difference. However, it's crucial to be aware of the potential side effects, both minor and severe. I'm sharing my story and tips to help others navigate this challenging condition. How has Sajazir worked for you? What side effects have you experienced, and how did you manage them?

Has anyone else experienced anxiety about giving themselves the injection during an attack? I freeze up, and it takes me a while to actually do it. Any tips?
For those asking about side effects, I've had mild ones like injection site pain, headache, and tiredness. I spoke to my doctor, and these are very common. I've also heard it's not good to give an injection too close to the head, so I always go for the stomach.
I've had HAE for over a decade, and Sajazir has been a lifesaver. I keep my auto-injector with me at all times. One time, I started swelling up on a bus, and thankfully I had my Sajazir ready. Always keep your Sajazir with you and don't wait to use it when an attack happens.
I have the worst luck. I had an attack while at the airport. I had to go to the hospital because my throat was swelling. The doctors were useless and needed to Google Sajazir. I was, like, 'Dude, you're a doctor. How do you not know about this?'. I waited in the hospital for an hour before they were finally ready to administer it. The attack was finally over after I used my Sajazir. Be prepared for useless doctors.
This is a great thread. I'm new to Hajazir and have my first attack coming. I have many questions about storage, side effects, and dosing. Can anyone help?
You only need 1 auto-injector per attack, so the cost isn't as great as you might think. You can get them for about $2000 each, but I talked to my insurance company and got a much better price. It's worth speaking to your insurance and doctor about cost. My doctor advised me to always carry extra, so I keep 2 on me.
