I was recently prescribed Nitisinone 5mg Capsules to manage my hereditary tyrosinemia type 1 (HT-1). Along with a special low-tyrosine, low-phenylalanine diet, Nitisinone is helping to prevent the buildup of harmful substances in my body. However, I'm a bit nervous about the possible side effects, especially the urgent ones. Has anyone else here been on this medication long-term? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both positive and negative. Let's share tips on managing side effects and any lifestyle adjustments you've made to accommodate this treatment. Comment below on your experiences and how you manage with this medication.

The diet is definitely the hardest part. I've had to cut out so many foods I love, like chicken and eggs. But my doctor says it's crucial for the medication to work effectively. It's a big adjustment, but I'm getting used to it.

The hardest part for me is remembering to take the medication on time while on the diet. Any tips for keeping track?

I’ve had some eye pain and sensitivity to bright light. It’s been tough, but my doctor said it’s a known side effect and manageable with eye drops. I use dark sunglasses if I go outside. Has anyone tried anything else to help with this?

I've been on Nitisinone for about 5 years now. The diet is tough, but the medication has been a lifesaver. I've had to learn to manage the side effects, but overall, it's been worth it. I'm glad I started this medication.

Have any of you had issues with your liver? I've been having some weird symptoms and I'm not sure if it's related to the medication or something else.

I had a really bad experience with this medication. I developed a severe rash and had to stop taking it. It was absolutely miserable. But my doctor said that it is rare and it usually works well for most people. I wish I could handle it but it just made me feel worse.

Does anyone know if the side effects get better over time? I'm on week 3 and feeling pretty rough.

I've heard that managing stress can help with some of the side effects. I've started doing yoga and meditation, and it's made a big difference.

This is one tough medication. I've had to adjust my entire life, but it's worth it to stay healthy.
