I was recently diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis and my doctor prescribed Otrexup 12.5/0.4ml Inj, 0.4ml. I know this is an injection designed to reduce inflammation and slow down the effects of diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. However, I'm a bit apprehensive about dealing with the side effects. Has anyone had experience with this medication? I am particularly worried about the serious side effects. I have read about the risk of infections and bleeding but am curious to know how common these really are. Also, what are the common side effects that people usually experience? Are there any tips on managing them? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I had a really bad reaction the first time I took it — severe stomach pain and vomiting. Turns out I was having a reaction to the preservatives. Be sure to read the label and know your allergies.

Otrexup has helped manage my psoriasis significantly. The side effects were minor compared to the relief it provided. But yeah, pay attention to any unusual symptoms and report them to your doctor immediately. Better safe than sorry!

I've heard that the most common side effects are pretty mild, but I've also read about the serious ones. How do you deal with the fear of getting something rare but really bad?

Shortness of breath is a serious side effect. If you experience this, go to the ER immediately. Don't wait for it to get better on its own.

I have to get this shot once a week. It's not the most pleasant experience, but the relief it provides from joint pain is worth it. Just make sure to rotate the injection sites to avoid irritation.

I've been on Otrexup for about six months now. The common side effects like decreased appetite and dizziness were manageable, but I did experience some hair loss which was a bit concerning. My doctor advised me to take biotin supplements, which helped a lot. Keep an eye on your diet and stay hydrated; it can make a big difference!

Aren't all these side effects giving you the heebie-jeebies?

As someone who has experienced liver problems from other medications, I'm really scared of the liver side effects. Dark urine and yellow skin? Sounds terrifying. Anyone have any tips on how to avoid these?

The worst part for me was the fatigue. It was so bad that I had to take a break from work for a week. But after a while, my body seemed to adjust to the medication. If you're feeling really exhausted, talk to your doctor. They might be able to adjust the dosage.

I almost forgot to mention: the common cold symptoms can be particularly awful on Otrexup. I had a nasty cold that lasted for weeks. It was miserable but bearable.
