Hello everyone, I was recently prescribed Sapropterin 100mg Tablets to manage my Phenylketonuria (PKU). I've been taking them for a couple of months now, and I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else here has tried this medication. What are the most common side effects you've encountered? I've heard that the most severe side effects are really rare, so I'd love to hear from anyone who has had a good experience.

I was really nervous about side effects, but so far, so good. Just a bit of flushing and some restlessness, but nothing too bad. Definitely worth it for the control over my phenylalanine levels.

I've been on Sapropterin for a few years now, and it's been a game-changer for me. My phenylalanine levels have been much more stable, and I've experienced minimal side effects—just occasional headaches and some stomach upset. But honestly, it's worth it for the increased dietary freedom.

Anyone else feel like their diet has gotten way easier since starting Sapropterin? I used to have to be so strict about what I ate, but now I can have a little more flexibility, especially with proteins.

I haven't had any issues, and my diet has gotten so much better since starting Sapropterin. If you are new to this medication, just be patient and give your body time to adjust.

Interesting experience. My sister has PKU and has been on Sapropterin for a year. She's had no major problems but sometimes gets a bit dizzy. It's a bit concerning, but her doctor says it's normal for some people. The key is communication with doctors and regular blood tests.

I also had a really bad reaction when I started this stuff. My arms and legs started swelling and felt like I was having an allergic reaction. Scared the crap out of me. My doctor is now testing for allergies to determine what I am allergic to, to alleviate the symptoms.

I had a pretty bad reaction to Sapropterin when I first started taking it. I broke out in hives and had trouble breathing. Turns out I was allergic to one of the ingredients. It was scary, but my doctor switched me to a different medication, and I've been fine since.
