I recently underwent cataract surgery and was prescribed Lotemax 0.5% Ophthalmic Gel Drops 5gm to reduce swelling and discomfort. I've been using it for a week now, and while it seems to be doing its job, I've experienced some minor side effects.Has anyone else used Lotemax after eye surgery? I'm curious to hear about your experiences and any tips you might have for managing side effects. I've heard that some people experience a feeling of something being in the eye, which I can confirm! I've also noticed short-term pain after using the medication, but that's manageable. I'm just glad the redness and inflammation are going down. Has anyone here had any severe side effects, or do you think these are just part of the recovery process? I want to make sure I'm doing everything right, so any advice would be appreciated. Also, for those who reported side effects to the FDA, how did you go about doing that?

This thread is making me nervous. Lotemax sounds like it has a lot of side effects. Is it really the best option for post-surgery care? What other alternatives are there for reducing eye inflammation?

I had a terrible reaction to Lotemax. I developed a rash all over my face and had to stop using it immediately. I ended up seeing an allergist who recommended a different steroid eye drop. I'm so glad I sought medical attention right away.

I’ve had super dry eyes after using Lotemax. Its a known side effect, but no one tells you how annoying it can be. I had to use artificial tears a lot to counteract it.

Reporting side effects to the FDA was easier than I thought. They have an online portal where you can fill out a form. It took me about 15 minutes to complete. Just be as detailed as possible about your experience.
