I've recently been prescribed Loxapine 5mg Capsules to manage my schizophrenia. The doctor assures me it will help balance my brain chemicals, improving my thoughts, mood, and behavior. However, the list of possible side effects is daunting. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? I'd love to hear about your journeys and any tips you might have. Is it normal to feel a bit anxious about starting a new antipsychotic? How did you handle the side effects? Were any unexpected benefits of the treatment?

I started Loxapine a year ago, and it's been a game-changer for me. The dizziness and drowsiness were tough at first, but they faded after a few weeks. My movements have been a little off, like I'm walking on clouds, but my thoughts and mood have stabilized significantly. I highly recommend sticking it out for a bit if you can.

I've had a horrible experience with Loxapine. I developed a severe allergic reaction after a few days and had to be rushed to the hospital. The doctors said it was rare, but it was terrifying. If you notice any rash, swelling, or trouble breathing, go to the ER immediately. Don't mess around.

What about weight gain? I've read it can be a side effect, and I'm really trying to avoid that. Anyone have experience with that?

No, I'm sorry, I haven't experienced weight gain, so I can't comment on that. What I can say is that I have had trouble sleeping on this medicine. I have actually had insomnia. It's not too bad and I sleep okay, but it's definitely a noticeable change. Have you tried melatonin?
