I've been given Magnesium Sulfate 40mg/ml Inj, 50ml during a severe asthma attack in the hospital. My doctor mentioned it helps relax muscles and prevent seizures. I'm curious about other uses, potential side effects, and what other people's experiences with this medication have been. Anyone else have any experience with this?

I've had it for pre-eclampsia during pregnancy. It was a game-changer! Kept the seizures at bay, but I was closely monitored the whole time due to those scary side effects listed.

Magnesium sulfate can cause serious muscle problems, including muscle weakness and breathing difficulties. My doctor told me to watch out for any new or worsening symptoms and to get to the emergency room immediately if I have any changes in vision, such as blurred vision or double vision.

This stuff is strong! I had a family member who had trouble breathing, dropped eyelids, and trouble swallowing for a week. They got the magnesium sulfate and were back to normal in a few hours.

I had a friend who was given this during a pregnancy. She had pre-eclampsia and was on bed rest, and this medicine saved her life. The nurse had to check her blood pressure every 5 minutes. She said it was so intense that she felt like she was underwater.

I work in a hospital, and we use it often for severe cases of asthma and certain heart problems. It's very effective, but we always have to be ready for those urgent side effects. The nurse staff makes sure to check for signs of allergic reactions, high magnesium levels, and low calcium levels. It's crucial to monitor patients closely.

mag sulfate is only given in severe cases, and the side effects don't sound fun.
