I recently started using Margenza 250mg/10ml Inj 1 Vial to treat my metastatic breast cancer with the HER2 protein. It's been a challenging journey, and I'm curious to hear from others who have experience with this medication. How have your infusions gone? Have you experienced any severe side effects, and if so, how did you manage them? I'm particularly interested in hearing about any strategies for coping with infusion-related side effects or low white blood cell counts.

I've had a few bouts of chills and fever during the infusion, and my doctor assured me that these are relatively common. However, I'm a bit concerned about the risk of infections due to low white blood cell counts. Has anyone else dealt with this, and what precautions did you take?

Additionally, I'm looking for tips on managing some of the other possible side effects, like hair loss and fatigue. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I can't believe how bad the hair loss is but my oncology nurse gave me some great tips for managing it. I started using a silk pillowcase and a wide-tooth comb to minimize hair loss. It's amazing how much easier that made it to deal with. I also switched to a gentle shampoo and still use conditioner and it helped a ton.

Make sure to keep an eye on your white blood cell counts and toxins in your blood. They can spike if you're not careful and you need to be really careful to avoid infection. I've had a few scares, but my doctor has been great about monitoring everything closely. Do you have a port? A port is a lot easier once you get used to it and I've also been wearing a port cover when I'm out in public to keep it safe.

I've had a few episodes of chills and fever during my infusions too. My doctor recommended taking acetaminophen before the infusion to help with the chills and fever. It's made a big difference for me. I've also been really diligent about hand-washing and avoiding crowds to reduce the risk of infections. It's a balancing act, but so far, so good.

I've been on Margenza for about six months now and have experienced some mild side effects like hair loss and fatigue. My doctor gave me some tips for managing these, such as using a gentle shampoo and going for short walks during the day. As for the infusion-related side effects, I've had a few episodes of chills and fever, but nothing too severe. Just make sure to stay hydrated and communicate with your medical team if you're feeling really uncomfortable during the infusion.
