I was just prescribed Margenza for my metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer. It's been a few weeks, and I've experienced some side effects that I'm not sure how to manage, and I'm curious what other people's experiences have been. This medication works by targeting the HER2 protein on cancer cells and can also help your immune system fight the cancer. But I have some serious concerns. For example, it has caused a very low white blood cell count in me. This has increased my risk of infection, and I am constantly worried about catching anything. I've also had some infusion-related issues. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had such intense side effects. Any advice on managing these issues would be appreciated. Also, anyone experiencing the same thing? I know that everyone is different, but it is still nice to see that you are not alone in this journey. I know that it can be scary dealing with this, but I feel that I am in a better place now that I have access to this medicine.

I had a really bad reaction during my first infusion. I started sweating, had a headache, and got super nauseous. The nurses had to stop the infusion and give me some meds to counteract the reaction. It was scary, but thankfully it hasn't happened again. I've had some other side effects too, like muscle pain and hair loss, but they've been more tolerable.

I've noticed that my fingernails and toenails are getting brittle and discolored. Is anyone else experiencing this? It's not something I've seen listed as a common side effect, and I want to know if I should bring this up with my doctor.

I just had my first infusion and I'm feeling pretty crappy. I've got chills, a headache, and I'm totally exhausted. But I'm glad I'm doing something to fight this cancer. I'm just hoping it gets better with each infusion, and I suppose I will have to wait and see. I hope the next infusion will be better..

I have been thinking about it a lot and I think the best thing to do is to just take it easy during the infusions. It can be really scary to think that something might happen, but it is important to take it easy and we will be okay in the end. The first step is to find out if there are any ways to make the infusions more manageable, like pre-medication or taking it easy.

I've been on Margenza for a few months now, and while I've had some side effects, they've been manageable. I've experienced some nausea and fatigue, but nothing too severe. I've found that staying hydrated and taking it easy on the days after my infusion helps a lot. My message to anyone dealing with this is to take it easy on yourself and not be afraid to talk to your doctor about anything that you need help with.
